Requirement for Completion
- Term for completion of doctoral course: 4 to 5 years
- Credits earned:
Master’s course: predefined number of credits assigned to one’s own major + 8 credits and above (out of which 2 or 4 credits shall be specific interdisciplinary subject research established by faculties of other disciplines, under the subjects in co-creative course of other departments)*
Doctoral course: 10 credits and above (Leadership Development Course I (4 credits), Leadership Development Course II (2 credits), Global Internship (4 credits) (any one of the following: foreign company internship, media internship, policy internship, foreign university internship)
- Ideal form of research guidance
Specific subject research in one’s own major in the master’s course (equivalent to master’s thesis) and doctoral thesis research in D2 are conducted under a close guidance by the leading faculties in Japan. On the other hand, special interdisciplinary research in interdisciplinary co-creative education and the more developed self-created thesis research are conducted by an independent-style guidance emphasizing the students’ self-reliance. Furthermore, guidance by managerial class lecturers from the industry and government is provided in industry-government-university co-creative education, and leading foreign faculties offer overseas guidance in international cooperation co-creative education, as appropriate.
- Ideal form of thesis review
2 faculty members from the co-creative course for one’s own department and 2 from the other selected department (total of 4) as well as 1 expert from the industry or government as an observer form Co-creative Course Review Committee, in order to review through an oral examination whether the student satisfies the completion requirement and has the qualification as a leader. When the completion of the course is approved following subsequent procedures in the Academy, a degree is conferred with the completion of “Co-creative Education of Environment and Energy Science course” added to Doctor (Science), Doctor (Engineering) or Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.).
